Mags - Entertainment This Month Catalog #42

I just posted an Entertainment This Month (ETM) catalog with a Valiant cover (#40 featuring a Rai and The Future Force cover by Sean Chen), now here's another. Entertainment This Month #42 featuring a Turok: Dinosaur Hunter cover by Bart Sears.

The image used here is from the cover art to Turok: Dinosaur Hunter #1, but what's really interesting is that there is more art here than on the chromium card cover. The right hand side shows the body of a dinosaur and a lamp post we don't see on the published comics. We see this in the Turok: Dinosaur Hunter #1 ink art but have never seen it colored. Pretty cool! I'll try and get a better scan.

For comparison, here is the printed version.

Entertainment This Month was a comic book retailer who would publish a quarterly catalog of their in stock comics with prices.

Mags - Entertainment This Month Catalog #40

Earlier this month I posted my first Entertainment This Month (ETM) catalog with a Valiant cover (#49 featuring a Ninjak cover by Joe Quesada), now here's another. Entertainment This Month #40 featuring a Rai and The Future Force cover by Sean Chen.

The image used here is from the cover art to Rai and The Future Force #9.

Original Art - Rai and the Future Force #12 cover

I promise this is not going to turn into an art blog. Since my PC passed on I've been stuck with an old Mac and I have no idea how to make it work. Until I get back on a PC full time the posts are going to be light.

Here's a scan of the black and white ink art for the cover to Rai and the Future Force #12 by Sean Chen. Check it out:

Of note is the fact that the ink cover contains more art that was published. Nothing exciting but compare the inks to the published cover on the left side and bottom.

Rai and the Future Force Lithograph

Got an interesting Valiant Comics item here. It's an official Rai and the Future Force lithograph signed by artist Sean Chen. I've never seen this image before which is neat. It features The 43rd Rai, Eternal Warrior, Tekla, Magnus Robot Fighter, Kazuyo Nakadai in the X-O Commando armor (wife of the 42nd Rai), Spylocke and the the Malev Emperor.

I have no idea how this was made avaliable, how much it costs, how many were made or if it was part of a larger collection of lithographs so check back to this post for future updates.

Mags - Internal Correspondence 1994

Before Diamond Comics Distributors alone ruled the land of comics distribution there was a time when comic book distributors where plenty. Upon this age appeared Capital City Distributors who then-st produce-st-ed ... a magazine called Internal Correspondence (yeah, I gave up on whatever it was I was just doing). The December 1994 issue of the (I believe) quarterly magazine features a cool Christmas image of Bloodshot and Eternal Warrior (why are these guys always hanging out together) drawn by Sean Chen.

I love all the Christmas presents in the background.  Here's a quick list:
  • A binosaur from Turok is hanging over the mantle (with a bow no less!).
  • Solar, Man of the Atom's severed left hand (which he gave to Geoff during UNITY) is on the mantle.
  • Timewalker's Tachyon Compass is also on the mantle.
  • A bottle of Armstrong Ale (a promotional item given to retailers by Valiant) is on the fireplace
  • A seasons greetings card from the Harbinger Foundation is also on the fireplace
  • A seasons greetings card from Capital City Distributors is also on the fireplace
  • A picture of someone I can't recognize on the fireplace
  • A stocking for Geoff
  • A stocking for Nev[ille Alcott]? (Are they at Gilad's house?)
  • There is also a large axe to the left of the fireplace. No idea what that is.
Now, as a bonus here is a scan of the original art for the cover of Internal Correspondence December 1994:
